The Tamil Nadu government is under scrutiny following the alleged custodial death of Ajith Kumar, a 29-year-old temple security guard in Sivaganga district. Chief Minister MK Stalin has assured Kumar's family of strict action against those responsible.
Minister for Cooperation KR Periyakaruppan conveyed the Chief Minister's condolences and pledged government support to the grieving family. Periyakaruppan handed over the phone for them to speak directly with Stalin, who promised to deliver justice for the alleged wrongful actions.
In a social media post, CM Stalin emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring accountability, stating, 'The cruelty that happened...should not happen to anyone.' Top officials have already been sanctioned, with the Sivaganga District Superintendent of Police Ashish Rawat being reassigned.
The Madras High Court's Madurai Bench is actively examining the case, which has been taken up by the Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID). So far, five police personnel have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Kumar's detention followed a complaint by two women regarding missing gold jewelry. Authorities are continuing the investigation while making efforts to seek justice for the victim and reassure the public.
