The finance ministry has kickstarted a comprehensive nationwide campaign aiming at saturating Financial Inclusion schemes at the grassroots levels of both gram panchayats and urban local bodies. The initiative, orchestrated by the Department of Financial Services, saw events coordinated at 33 different locations nationwide.

According to a statement by DFS, this launch witnessed active participation from public representatives, state government officials, and banking correspondents, along with enthusiastic engagement from beneficiaries. Among the notable figures was Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who was virtually present at the event.

The ambitious campaign, targeting coverage of all 2.70 lakh GPs and ULBs in India, will run until September 30. Key activities planned include mandatory re-KYC of existing savings account holders and facilitating the creation of new bank accounts for unbanked adults under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).
