The Amarnath Yatra commenced with a fresh wave of devotees setting out toward the sacred cave, marking the start of a journey that resonates beyond religious dimensions, according to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri. He highlighted the unifying aspect of this event, involving security forces, service providers, and local communities.
The atmosphere buzzed with devout energy as pilgrims chanted traditional mantras during their departure. One veteran pilgrim from Punjab lauded the government's arrangements, emphasizing the seamless coordination experienced during his 14th visit. Similar sentiments echoed from a Bengali participant, who felt reassured by the security presence and governmental support.
Enhanced security measures have been implemented, notably following past incidents, deploying over 50,000 security personnel to safeguard the 48-kilometre Pahalgam and 14-kilometre Baltal routes. Advanced surveillance technology, including drones and facial recognition, complements the ground presence. Medical support, including air ambulances, further underscores the preparedness for this significant annual event.
