In a significant achievement, Odisha has climbed to the 5th position in the national school education rankings for 2023-24, surpassing Kerala. The success was highlighted by former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who credited the state's transformative 5T initiative. This initiative has seen over 7,000 schools revamped, setting new educational benchmarks.

Patnaik expressed his satisfaction on social media, sharing, "Glad to share that Odisha has earned 5th rank nationally in School Grading System, as per Performance Grading Index (PGI-2.0) Report released by Government of India. Odisha has achieved a score of 595.6 and secured the PRACHESTA-3 grade for the academic year 2023-24, up from 14th in 2019."

VK Pandian, former aide to Patnaik, shared that surpassing Kerala was once considered an impossible feat but was achieved through the concerted efforts of educators, parents, and administrators. The Performance Grading Index (PGI) evaluates education across 73 indicators, and Odisha's rise is attributed to the hard work and dedication of all involved.
