In a significant move towards bolstering healthcare infrastructure, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu unveiled the Chief Minister's Organ Transplant Scheme during a governing body meeting in Itanagar. This ambitious plan expands the state's previous Renal Replacement Scheme by offering enhanced support for kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplants.
Since the original scheme's introduction, over 200 kidney transplants have been performed successfully. The new scheme promises financial assistance, up to Rs 20 lakh for liver transplants, Rs 15 lakh for bone marrow transplants, and Rs 10 lakh for kidney transplants, thus broadening the scope of critical healthcare services.
Chief Minister Khandu highlighted the importance of a preventive healthcare approach, advocating for increased awareness, education, and lifestyle changes. This initiative aims to make vital transplants accessible to all eligible citizens, underscoring the state's commitment to equitable healthcare.
