Delhi woke to a refreshing change on Wednesday morning as moderate rainfall alleviated the persistent humidity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the continuation of light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, throughout the day in the national capital.

'Generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms are expected over Delhi on the 22nd and 23rd of July, with lighter showers following,' noted an IMD statement. It further highlighted that temperatures are predicted to oscillate between 36 and 23 degrees Celsius through July 28.

The IMD forecasts prevalent cloudy skies with intermittent light, moderate, and heavy rainfall paired with thunderstorms likely throughout the country in the coming days. Regions such as Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana are poised for heavy rainfall from July 23 to 28. The meteorological body also anticipates strong winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph over South Peninsular India during this period.

In the west, heavy showers are likely in isolated areas of Konkan, Goa, and the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra from the 23rd to the 28th of July. In addition, regions like Marathwada and Gujarat are expected to witness significant rain by the end of the month. 'Light to moderate rainfall is probable across many parts of the region over the next five days,' the IMD disclosed.

Elsewhere, heavy rainfall is expected to continue in places like Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Odisha from July 23rd to July 28th. The IMD notes that regions such as Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are likely to experience intensified rain activity during various intervals throughout this spell.

Overall, light to moderate rainfall, potentially exacerbated by thunderstorms and lightning, remains a notable forecast across the Western Himalayan region and the adjoining plains over the following seven days. (ANI)
