Tens of thousands of devotees converged on major Shiva temples across India on Tuesday, marking the sacred festival of Sawan Shivratri with profound devotion. In Uttar Pradesh, the spiritual fervor was palpable as Kanwar pilgrims poured into Varanasi's Kailash Math Shiva Temple for special prayers and rituals.
Significant numbers of saffron-clad Kanwar pilgrims, some having journeyed barefoot for days, formed long queues at the renowned Shri Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga Temple, patiently waiting for a momentary glimpse of the deity. Celebrations extended to Baghpat, where devotees performed traditional rituals at the Shree Parshuram Pura Mahadev Mandir.
In Prayagraj, the Shri Mankameshwar Mahadev Temple's grand aarti ceremony drew large crowds, with many seeking divine blessings. The spiritual festivities also resonated in Ujjain's Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, where elaborate early morning rituals enlivened the holy premises in observance of the auspicious day.
