A committee is being set up to examine allegations against Justice Yashwant Verma, according to government officials. This move comes as the monsoon session of Parliament unfolds, with discussions not yet planned on the Election Commission's voter revision exercise in Bihar.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Sunday that over 100 MPs have signed for Justice Verma's impeachment, following the discovery of burnt cash at his residence. "The signature gathering process has already crossed 100," Rijiju stated, addressing queries about the impeachment proceedings against Verma.
When questioned about Parliament addressing the issue in its session starting July 21, Rijiju noted that all parties would jointly undertake the Justice Verma process, not just the government. He stressed that no parliamentary business could be prioritized without BAC's approval. On Monday, an impeachment memorandum signed by 145 MPs was submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla concerning Justice Verma's involvement in the cash scandal.
