Assam Rifles Hosts Football Tournament, Cracks Down on Drug Trafficking

In an energetic bid to promote sports and bolster community welfare, the Assam Rifles, alongside the Golakpur Sports Committee, orchestrated a dynamic football tournament in Golakpur. This engaging event saw the participation of 22 teams, drawing vibrant local community support. The climactic finals on July 22 featured an intense face-off between Youngstar from Betcherra and CFC from Nilkumar (Kumarghat), shining a spotlight on sporting prowess and teamwork.
Parallel to the tournament, Assam Rifles organized a medical camp, providing free consultations and treatment to 273 residents, including men, women, and children. This initiative underscores Assam Rifles' unwavering commitment to fostering youth development, fortifying community ties, and advancing citizen welfare in Tripura's remote areas.
In a significant crackdown, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Customs, executed a potent anti-drug operation in Tripura's Khowai district, seizing narcotics worth a staggering ₹14 crore. Acting on precise intelligence, security forces intercepted a truck near Tuchandrai Bazar on July 21, uncovering 1.4 lakh Yaba tablets. The truck driver was apprehended, with both the individual and contraband transferred to Customs for further legal proceedings. This operation highlights Assam Rifles' resolute stance against drug trafficking networks in the Northeast.
A subsequent operation on July 22, based on specific intelligence, led Assam Rifles to Zokhawthar, Mizoram, where they discovered 1.227 Kgs of heroin valued at approximately 9.75 crores. These seizures represent significant victories in the ongoing fight against illegal narcotics trafficking.
