The Kanha Gaushala in Moradabad is pioneering animal welfare in Uttar Pradesh by becoming the first self-reliant and ISO-certified cowshed in the state. This milestone highlights its approach to exceptional care for around 700-750 resident cows, many of whom are destitute.
The facility features comprehensive infrastructure, including fodder storage and drinking water amenities, promoting both animal care and community involvement. Additional Municipal Commissioner Ajit Kumar emphasized that the gaushala is fully self-sufficient, offering a unique opportunity for community service while ensuring top-notch care for its animals.
The gaushala is notable for its use of cow dung in creating products like Go-Kashth, diyas, and hawan samagri, supporting both local cremation centers and eco-friendly initiatives. This sustainable model leverages resources for self-reliance, serving as a template for other gaushalas. Meanwhile, an incident involving a suspect linked to the UP Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act was reported in Ballia, highlighting ongoing enforcement actions in the region, as confirmed by local police authorities.
