The solar industry in Goa is poised for significant growth, as projected business turnover is set to reach Rs 325 crore by 2027, according to the Solar Power Association of Goa (SPAG).
At a press conference, SPAG President Sandeep Naik highlighted the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Scheme and the Goa State Solar Policy, which he described as the best solar policies to date. Goa's Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, is actively promoting green energy, encouraging residents to utilize these schemes.
Currently, Goa has 12 MW of installed solar capacity, with expectations to rise to 65 MW by 2027. The number of entrepreneurs in the sector is anticipated to triple, and employment could jump from 2,625 jobs today to a total of 9,000 by 2027. Notably, the sector has also seen substantial government subsidy support, alongside notable GST collection projections.
