The Election Commission of India (ECI) reported on Thursday that nearly 99% of eligible voters in Bihar are now accounted for under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Booth-level officers have provided lists of non-compliant electors, deceased individuals, and those who have permanently relocated to political parties since July 20, allowing for error checks.

Under the SIR order, electors or political parties have until September 1 to submit claims for missing names or object to incorrect inclusions. The commission noted the identification of 21.6 lakh deceased electors, 31.5 lakh who have migrated, and 7 lakh found registered in multiple locations.

Despite thorough efforts, approximately 1 lakh electors remain untraceable while under 7 lakh forms remain unsubmitted until now. An impressive 91.32%, equating to 7.21 crore voter forms, have been processed and digitized for inclusion in the Draft Electoral Roll, set for publication on August 1, 2025. The roll will be accessible both digitally and in print, with updates and claims accepted until the September deadline.
