The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Parliamentary Party leaders, led by Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, held a meeting with Union Minister JP Nadda on Thursday, to address the escalating urea shortage crisis affecting Andhra Pradesh's agricultural sector.
In a detailed representation, MP Lavu highlighted the significant discrepancy between the urea allocated for the July 2025 Kharif Supply Plan—1,30,000 Metric Tonnes—and the 49,485 Metric Tonnes actually received by the state by mid-July, leaving a substantial shortfall of 80,515 Metric Tonnes.
The MPs emphasized the urgent need for increased urea allocation from suppliers such as KRIBHCO and CIL, underscoring the immediate risk to paddy and major Kharif crops like groundnut, red gram, cotton, and maize. They stressed that prompt delivery of urea is crucial for the Kharif season's success and farmer welfare in Andhra Pradesh.
