BJP MP Kangana Ranaut met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday to address the severe impact of recent natural disasters in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi Lok Sabha constituency. Ranaut, who transitioned from acting to politics, highlighted the devastation in a post on social media platform X after her meeting with the minister.
She reported that Shah expressed heartfelt condolences to those affected and committed to providing comprehensive assistance and rapid rehabilitation to impacted families. The Central Government, she noted, is standing in solidarity with Himachal Pradesh during this difficult time.
Himachal Pradesh has been plagued by relentless rainfall, landslides, and flash floods, particularly in Mandi, leading to significant loss of life and property. According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), since June 20, the cumulative death toll has reached 147. Additionally, 42 flash floods and numerous landslides, road accidents, and cloudbursts have disrupted essential services and blocked 274 roads, including major highways. Efforts to restore services and connectivity are ongoing by government agencies.
