Political Tremors in Rajasthan: BJP Faces Accusations Amid Electoral Delays

Congress MLA Sachin Pilot has raised concerns over the delay in conducting local body elections in Rajasthan, accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of stalling the process due to ongoing internal strife. During a visit to Tonk, Pilot suggested that Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's recent resignation is symptomatic of deeper issues within the party.

"With the Prime Minister preoccupied with his travels and the BJP unable to settle on a party president, there's evident internal discord," said Pilot. He argued that this turmoil is affecting governance, as evidenced by the delay in replacing J.P. Nadda. Pilot further noted that Parliament is the right forum for debating Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam attack, urging the government not to shy away from discussions.

The Vice President's resignation, effective immediately, was attributed to health reasons, as stated in Dhankhar's letter to President Droupadi Murmu. He expressed gratitude for her support during his tenure. The vice-presidential position, filled through an electoral college vote by Parliament members, is open following Dhankhar's exit. By constitutional requirement, subsequent elections fill any vacancy promptly to maintain leadership continuity.
