Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh has intensified demands for a debate on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's voter lists, submitting a Suspension of Business notice in the Indian Parliament under Rule 267. The INDIA bloc has criticized the SIR, deeming it a pressing issue meriting parliamentary discussion.
On Thursday, the Opposition staged a protest outside the Parliament, causing disruptions that led to the adjournment of both Houses. Proceedings stalled amid calls to address additional matters, including the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, alongside the contentious Bihar SIR.
Tensions soared when Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal accused the Election Commission of India of partiality, warning that the SIR process might threaten democratic integrity. The ongoing Monsoon Session, scheduled from July 21 to August 21, remains tumultuous as MPs reconvene, with demands for transparency and accountability at the forefront.
