In a dramatic turn of events, Govindachamy, the convict in the infamous 2011 rape and murder of Soumya, was apprehended on Friday morning following a daring escape from Kannur Central Jail.
Authorities swiftly dispatched an extensive search effort, deploying the K-9 squad to track down Govindachamy, who had been serving a life sentence for the gruesome crime committed on a passenger train between Ernakulam and Shoranur on February 1, 2011.
Prior to his recapture, the District Police Chief's Office had issued a wanted notice, describing Govindachamy by his notable characteristic of having only one arm, urging the public to report any sightings of the fugitive.
