Delhi HC Delays 'Udaipur Files' Release Amid Certification Dispute

The Delhi High Court has postponed the hearing of petitions related to the controversial film 'Udaipur Files' until Wednesday, amidst concerns about its certification status. Despite an earlier stay on its release, the High Court is yet to receive confirmation of a new Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certificate.

The division bench, composed of Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, emphasized that without a CBFC certificate, the film's release cannot proceed. During Monday's hearing, both the government and film producer's representatives urged the court to address the ongoing matter swiftly, claiming no Supreme Court stay had been issued.

Mohd. Javed, an accused in a related murder case, argued through counsel that the film's release could prejudice his trial. The court, acknowledging the sensitivity of the issue, reiterated the need for structured arguments and awaited the Central Government's decision on recommended cuts before contemplating lifting the release stay.
