In response to the tragic stampede at Mansa Devi Temple, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has initiated a review of the state's crowd and traffic management strategies. The incident, which claimed eight lives and injured 30 others, has prompted the administration to meticulously evaluate the carrying capacity of pilgrimage sites across the region.

CM Dhami extended his condolences to the families affected, expressing deep sorrow over what he described as an 'unfortunate incident.' He emphasized the importance of ensuring visitor safety by aligning the number of devotees with the infrastructure's carrying capacity. Plans are underway to widen roads and improve traffic management to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The calamity unfolded around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday as a large gathering of devotees ascended the 800 steps to the hilltop shrine. Rapid response teams, including the State Disaster Response Force and fire brigade, were deployed to the scene, initiating rescue operations promptly. Leaders from across the nation, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
