The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh in the coming days. A yellow alert has been put in place for specific districts. Senior Scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma from Shimla's Meteorological Centre detailed that the state will witness increased rainfall activity for the upcoming five days.

In the past 24 hours, regions like Kangra have seen severe rainfall, recording 140 mm at Kangra station, while areas such as Palampur, Mandi, and Shimla experienced moderate showers. Predictions indicate light to moderate rain statewide from July 28 to July 30, escalating from July 31 to August 3, particularly in mid-hill and lower districts.

The IMD has expressed concern for regions like Kullu, Kangra, and Mandi, issuing an orange alert starting July 29. Meanwhile, a yellow alert persists for districts including Chamba and Solan. Although Himachal Pradesh faces a 10% rainfall deficiency, adequate preparedness is advised for potential weather hazards.
