Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has branded the alleged harassment and arrest of Kerala nuns at Durg railway station as a 'serious matter related to women's safety.' He revealed that the nuns were reportedly handed three girls from Narayanpur, promised nursing training, who were then allegedly taken to Agra.
CM Sai suggested that there was an effort to engage in human trafficking through deceit and promised legal action once the ongoing investigation concludes. Meanwhile, Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel criticized the state government and accused it of endangering minority safety in India, raising the issue in the Lok Sabha.
Congress MP Hibi Eden filed an adjournment motion, demanding a discussion on the alleged attacks on nuns in Chhattisgarh. The Catholic Bishops Conference of India condemned the incident, asserting violations of constitutional rights and the need for immediate government intervention.
