Indonesia is poised to increase its palm oil exports to India, expecting to exceed 5 million tonnes by 2025, following India's reduction in import tariffs, according to a senior industry official. This comes amid efforts by India to boost its domestic edible oil availability.
The expansion strategy includes the shipment of 100,000 germinated palm seeds to India to support its ambitious plan to grow palm cultivation to 1 million hectares. Arising from the decreased import tariffs, Indonesia anticipates a significant rise in palm oil imports in the coming years.
The IPOA is also working with the IVPA to address consumer health concerns regarding palm oil and to counter negative perceptions. This partnership is seen as crucial in maintaining stable exports to India, the world's largest consumer of edible oils.
