The Delhi High Court on Tuesday postponed the hearing of the interim bail plea of Baramulla MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, also known as Engineer Rashid. His senior counsel faced delays due to severe traffic congestion caused by rain, leading the court to schedule the hearing for July 31.
Represented by Advocate Vikhyat Oberoi, Rashid's counsel asked for a pass over during the first call, as senior advocate N Hariharan was delayed. The court approved the request. Despite the pass over, Hariharan was unable to make it for the second call, prompting the court to point out that the application for modifying a previous order remained pending.
Rashid has been seeking interim bail to participate in the parliament session, with his petition highlighting that prior interim bails have been granted without incident. However, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has resisted the bail plea, asserting that if custody attendance at parliament is permitted, Rashid should cover his own travel expenses.
