The Ministry of Ayush has embarked on a comprehensive plan to enhance traditional medicine research by establishing premier research councils. These include the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), among others. Their core activities focus on clinical and medicinal plant research, drug standardization, pharmacological studies, and literary programs.

In collaboration with universities and hospitals, the Ayush Ministry aims to extend its reach through healthcare services and special programs like the Tribal Health Care Research Programme and Swasthya Rakshan Programme. Under the 'AYURGYAN' Scheme, financial aid is provided to various institutions to boost innovation and development in the Ayush sector.

Efforts by the CCRUM include partnering with academic and scientific organizations such as AIIMS and Jamia Millia Islamia to integrate Unani practices with evidence-based medicine. Simultaneously, CCRS and CCRH are working towards incorporating Siddha and Homoeopathy with mainstream healthcare, thus promoting a holistic approach to patient care.
