In a significant operation on Tuesday night, Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended an armed suspect during a checkpoint inspection in the Nagrota area of Jammu district. The individual, identified as Azan Hameed Gazi, is a resident of Qamarwari, Srinagar. His arrest follows the recovery of three pistols from his possession.

Reports indicate that Gazi was traveling towards Srinagar when a police team from PS Nagrota intercepted him at the TCP Bypass Nagrota. A thorough search uncovered three pistols, three empty magazines, eight live cartridges, and two empty cartridges hidden under the co-driver's seat of his car.

Gazi could not present any valid documents or licenses for the firearms and ammunition in his possession. Consequently, police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him and have detained him for further questioning as investigations continue to unfold.
