In a bid to educate the public about the benefits of smart electricity meters, Rajasthan's power Distribution Companies (Discoms) and the Energy Department are initiating a comprehensive awareness campaign. The move comes in the wake of political controversies surrounding the installation process of these meters.

Energy Minister Hira Lal Nagar revealed that the initiative will roll out initially in the homes of energy department officials, then expand to other government personnel's residences. The phased approach aims to build public trust and demonstrate the practicality of smart meters. Minister Nagar emphasized that the project began under the previous administration and remains a priority for the current government.

Minister Nagar highlighted that smart meters can pinpoint areas with high electricity demand, facilitating better infrastructure management and minimizing theft and losses. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the state's development. CM Sharma praised Modi's leadership in a post, attributing India's rise on the global stage to his guidance and acknowledging the continuous progress in Rajasthan.
