In a strategic move to elevate the dairy sector, Bilaspur district administration has announced the establishment of milk cooperative societies in 101 gram panchayats. This initiative, led by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar, aims to enhance milk collection and distribution throughout the region, aligning with state government guidelines.

During a recent meeting attended by representatives from Milkfed Mandi, the District Rural Development Agency, and other key departments, plans for the cooperative societies were discussed. In its initial phase, 25 panchayats have been earmarked for the completion of these societies, with licenses to be issued soon.

A survey conducted by the Animal Husbandry Department revealed a surplus production of 200 liters of milk daily across these panchayats. To manage this efficiently, cluster-level milk collection centers and subsequent chilling points will be established. Future plans include exposure visits to Gujarat to provide farmers with practical training in cooperative models and best practices.
