According to the Gujarat Chief Minister's Office, the event was a collaborative endeavor by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the State Industries and Mines Department, and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. Industries Minister Balvantsinh Rajput highlighted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has risen to become the world's fourth-largest power. He noted that the India-UK CETA is poised to accelerate India's trajectory to becoming the third-largest global economy. The agreement provides a crucial market entry for the state's exporters and startups, presenting a golden opportunity for Gujarat. Rajput underscored that this agreement is pivotal for India's economic aspirations, aligning with the 'Vocal for Local to Global' strategy and highlighted various state initiatives aimed at bolstering industry benefits.
GCCI President Sandeep Engineer addressed the gathering, marking CETA as a landmark in India's economic relations with the UK, reflecting mutual aspirations for deeper economic synergy. He stressed on the sweeping duty-free access for 99% of Indian exports to the UK, opening multifaceted export opportunities in diverse sectors, such as textiles, marine products, and gems. State Industries Principal Secretary, Ms. Mamta Verma, characterized CETA as a proud national milestone, essential for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. Rahul Singh from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade emphasized the trade agreement's significant elimination of tariffs on 99% of tariff lines, providing robust support to Indian exports.
Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop elaborated on duty-free product lines, spotlighting Gujarat's leadership in exports. He also described the promising growth sectors, including ready-made garments and home textiles under CETA.
