In Arunachal Pradesh, Agriculture Minister Gabriel Denwang Wangsu has called on farmers to transition from traditional to modern pig-rearing practices to increase income and achieve sustainable livelihoods. His appeal came during an awareness camp in Longding district's Kanubari, where he stressed the importance of scientific methods and biosafety in pig farming.

The event was organized under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) by the ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Longding. Wangsu highlighted that the government is prepared with meat processing and marketing facilities to assist this agricultural shift, pointing to beneficiary-oriented programs as crucial for modern solutions to modern challenges.

Additionally, interactive sessions allowed farmers to engage with experts, ask questions, and clear any uncertainties about pig farming techniques. Later, Wangsu visited various developmental sites, including an Industrial Training Institute, a Model Degree College under construction, a local water treatment plant, and PMGSY road projects, underscoring the region's developmental trajectory.
