Karnataka's Leader of the Opposition, R Ashoka, launched a scathing critique against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday for his intended protest in the state. Ashoka accused Gandhi of disseminating baseless allegations of electoral fraud and questioned his motives during a press conference.
"Rahul Gandhi is slated to protest in Karnataka, alleging electoral malpractice, but the Lok Sabha elections were overseen by District Commissioners appointed by the government. On what grounds does he protest now?" Ashoka remarked. He emphasized that any legitimate grievances should have been reported within 45 days after the elections.
The BJP leader asserted that Congress is undermining the credibility of the Election Commission without presenting any evidence, thereby misleading the public. Furthermore, Ashoka accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of restricting BJP protests while permitting Gandhi's rally, labeling the Congress event as an attempt to sway Bihar voters. He also criticized the government for allegedly ignoring the rise of the drug mafia in Mysuru under CM Siddaramaiah's watch.
