In a staunch defense of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi on Wednesday asserted that India need not fear the newly imposed US tariffs. President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25 percent tariff on Indian exports has sparked varied reactions, but Sarangi maintains India's market strength under Modi's guidance will navigate the challenge effectively.

Sarangi further repudiated Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's criticisms, labeling them as attempts to induce unnecessary panic over Modi's foreign policy. He remarked on the resilience of India-US relations, noting that while Modi values the US partnership, he will not compromise on national welfare.

Meanwhile, the Indian government, through the Union Commerce and Industry Ministry, stated it's evaluating the implications of the US tariff move. An ongoing commitment exists to forge a comprehensive and equitable trade agreement with the US, with due consideration to India's domestic sectors such as farmers, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also expressed concerns over the tariff situation, underscoring the need for careful observation of the government's response.
