A recent report by RailYatri, India's leading rail travel platform, indicates a slight decline in train punctuality for the first half of 2025. Following a year of improvements, average passenger delays rose from 35.75 minutes in 2024 to 36.63 minutes, marking a 2.45 per cent increase.
The report attributes this dip to extraordinary circumstances such as record passenger volumes during the Kumbh Mela, which pressured several high-traffic routes. Despite the drawback, performance remains better than 2023, where average delays were recorded at 37.91 minutes.
Notably, Rajasthan emerged as a success story, improving train punctuality by 23.61 per cent, while Chhattisgarh saw a deterioration, with average delays leaping by 24.56 per cent. The Rajdhani Express achieved better punctuality, yet delays on Humsafar trains increased substantially. Identified delay hotspots on eastern rail corridors are slated for infrastructure enhancements. RailYatri continues to innovate in providing comprehensive train travel services to meet growing passenger needs across India.
