The Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its determination to block any efforts to transform the state into 'Miya-land', following demographic changes attributed to illegal immigration and growing minority populations. The party's statement accuses individuals of Bangladeshi origin of cultural intrusion and societal disruption.

Kishor Kumar Upadhyay, chief spokesperson for the Assam BJP, highlighted census data revealing significant rises in Muslim populations in districts like Dhubri and Barpeta, contrasting them with stagnated or declining Hindu numbers. These figures, they argue, demonstrate a demographic threat driven by illegal immigration and population growth among Muslims of Bengali descent.

BJP officials condemned efforts symbolized by 'Miya poetry' and calls for a 'Miya Museum', interpreting them as cultural aggression. They assert the BJP government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, will continue crackdowns on illegal land encroachments and ensure the deportation of unlawful Bangladeshi migrants, aiming to safeguard Assam's identity.
