Uttarakhand Panchayat Polls: Counting Begins Amid High Turnout

The counting process for the Uttarakhand panchayat elections is now underway, as officials tally votes in all development blocks across the state. The elections saw a high turnout, with 69.16% of eligible voters casting their ballots over two phases.
A total of 32,580 candidates are competing in the three-tier panchayat system elections held in 12 districts, excluding Haridwar. The first and second phases of the election were conducted on July 24 and July 28, respectively, as per the State Election Commission's schedule.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was among those who voted, casting his ballot at a polling booth in Khatima. In a social media appeal, he urged voters to elect capable leaders who could robustly advocate for rural development, stressing how each vote contributes to an empowered Panchayati Raj system.
