In an unexpected turn of events, the University of Delhi announced on Thursday that it has not received any formal application from Lenskart co-founder Sumeet Kapahi concerning the issuance of his B.Com (Hons) degree or marksheets. This disclosure follows Lenskart's revelation, included in their Initial Public Offering (IPO) document, that Kapahi has been unable to locate these essential credentials.
Details of this curious case emerged in Lenskart's Draft Red Herring Prospectus submitted to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The university's examination authorities confirmed they had meticulously checked their records, both physical and digital, but could not find any evidence of communication from Kapahi.
The university further clarified that while a payment under a miscellaneous category was made by one Deepesh on July 16, 2025, for a duplicate marksheet mentioning Kapahi's name, this was not accompanied by an official request from Kapahi himself. Students, including Kapahi, are advised to obtain such documentation by applying through the official portal and paying the required fees.
