Arunachal Pradesh is well on its way to becoming India's 'emerging hydropower capital,' according to Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Highlighting the state's potential, Khandu noted its 56,000-megawatt energy capacity as transformative for economic growth and community welfare.
Through initiatives like the completed 600 MW Kameng project and the upcoming 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower project, Arunachal is emerging as a national energy engine and a model for merging natural beauty with infrastructure. The 2,880 MW Dibang project, set to be India's largest hydroelectric plant, is also progressing steadily.
Anticipating an unprecedented rise in national energy production with 13 new projects totaling 15,000 MW, Khandu emphasized these ventures are about enhancing lives by boosting local economies and providing jobs. The state projects an annual revenue boost of Rs 1,884 crore from dividends and plans significant investment into community welfare.
