In a significant development, the Mumbai Special National Investigative Agency (NIA) Court has acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The court ruled that the prosecution failed to establish the guilt of the accused beyond a reasonable doubt, following a lengthy trial that began when the case was transferred from the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to the NIA in 2011.
Spiritual leader Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, speaking to ANI in Chitrakoot, called for legal action against the Congress party, criticizing it for failing to produce substantial evidence. Rambhadracharya stated, "This has exposed Congress. They could not collect any evidence. We won today, and all the acquitted must collectively file a defamation suit."
The acquittal involves high-profile individuals, including former MP Sadhvi Pragya, Major (retired) Ramesh Upadhyay, and Sudhakar Chaturvedi, among others. Despite this verdict, the lawyer representing the victims' families announced plans to challenge the decision in the High Court, maintaining that justice has not yet been served.
