In a decisive move towards social equity, the Himachal Pradesh cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has announced the introduction of OBC reservation in the forthcoming Urban Local Bodies elections. To support this initiative, a Backwards Classes Commission will be established to gather comprehensive data before finalizing the reservation roster.
The cabinet's agenda extended to multiple sectors, granting a two-year age limit relaxation for TGT and JBT post aspirants. It also allocated reserved seats for orphans in various government institutions. Further bolstering healthcare, 290 new ASHA workers will be deployed in remote regions, enhancing access to essential services.
Addressing recent challenges posed by monsoon rains, the cabinet approved financial assistance for affected families. Measures to curb illegal operational activities, mineral auctions for revenue uptick, and the creation of a Tourism Investment Promotion Council reflect the cabinet's multi-faceted strategy for the state's economic and social progress.
