The Lok Sabha session erupted in chaos on Friday as opposition leaders initiated a vocal protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, coinciding with the upcoming assembly elections. Speaker Om Birla was forced to adjourn the proceedings shortly after they commenced, amidst rising tensions.

Condemning the disruption, Speaker Birla reminded the representatives of their duty to the public, emphasizing the need to adhere to parliamentary decorum. "You are not representing the public by sloganeering," he stated, stressing the importance of civil discourse to strengthen democracy.

The Lok Sabha is set to reconvene at 2 pm today. Earlier, members of the INDIA bloc demonstrated outside Parliament, urging discussions on the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls. The bloc has unanimously resolved to escalate their protests both inside and outside the legislative chambers as the Election Commission prepares to release Bihar's draft electoral rolls today.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the publication of the draft electoral rolls, accessible online, and available in physical forms to political parties across Bihar's 38 districts. In the meantime, key legislative actions, including bills on the Readjustment of Scheduled Tribes in Goa and Merchant Shipping, are slated for discussion.
