The Lok Sabha session on Friday was marred by chaos as the Opposition launched a protest against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, ahead of the state's assembly elections. The uproar forced Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the proceedings shortly after they began.
Before adjourning, Speaker Om Birla rebuked the protesting members, emphasizing that their actions did not represent public interest. He urged the members to adhere to parliamentary protocols, stating that strengthening democracy relies on raising issues through proper channels.
The session is scheduled to resume at 2 PM. Meanwhile, the INDIA Bloc MPs demonstrated outside Parliament, demanding discussions on the SIR in both Houses. The Election Commission is set to release Bihar's draft electoral rolls, heightening political tensions.
Additionally, the Union Law Minister will propose a bill regarding Scheduled Tribes' representation in Goa, while another bill aimed at updating maritime laws to match international standards will also be introduced. Both legislative moves signify the day's broader political landscape.
