In a high-stakes meeting, Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra confronted Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday, intensifying their opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, a state critical to upcoming elections.

After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi delivered a stern message to those involved in the controversial SIR process, indicating that no member of the Election Commission would be immune from accountability. He drew a hard line, suggesting the exercise equates to treason.

Parliament was embroiled in pandemonium, with the Opposition demanding discussions on the SIR. Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings shortly after they commenced, criticizing MPs for failing to represent public concerns constructively. The Rajya Sabha encountered similar disruptions, with the Deputy Chairman dismissing appeals for debate, citing constitutional constraints.
