In a significant development, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar revealed that the Chhattisgarh government has agreed not to challenge the bail pleas of two nuns from Kerala. The nuns were detained over accusations of forced religious conversion and human trafficking. Chandrasekhar expressed hope for their release, crediting intervention from the highest government echelons, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) has condemned the arrests. Reports suggest that despite having parental consent, the arrested nuns were physically assaulted. The current scenario has sparked political tensions, with Chhattisgarh's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma expressing concerns over Congress's alleged courthouse pressure tactics following the nuns' detention.

Political leaders across party lines, including Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and Kerala's ruling and opposition fronts, have criticized the arrests. Tharoor has called the situation a 'grave injustice,' arguing the nuns were merely assisting tribal girls in finding employment. The case continues to stir political and societal debates on religious freedom and justice.
