The Indian Army has taken a significant leap in enhancing its operational capabilities by signing a Rs 223.95 crore contract with Axiscades Aerospace and Technologies. The deal, finalized on Friday, involves the procurement of 212 advanced 50-ton tank transporter trailers, a move aligned with the 'Aatmnirbhar Bharat' initiative. Designed to improve the Army's logistics management, these trailers are equipped with hydraulic/pneumatic loading ramps and steerable and liftable axles, facilitating seamless movement of tanks across challenging terrains.

This acquisition falls under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, underscoring the Indian Army's commitment to indigenization in defense manufacturing. The state-of-the-art trailers are poised to serve as a force multiplier, enhancing the operational and logistical prowess of field units. Furthermore, this deal is expected to bolster employment within the defense manufacturing sector, reinforcing the drive towards self-reliance.

In related developments, the Army's 'Exercise DIVYA DRISHTI' conducted in July tested battlefield technologies in high-altitude East Sikkim. The exercise involved troops from the Trishakti Corps, who utilized a combination of ground-based systems and aerial platforms, such as drones and UAVs, to engage in realistic scenarios. A standout feature was the integration of AI-enabled sensors with sophisticated communication networks, ensuring seamless data relay and heightened situational awareness. This technological enhancement is set to refine decision-making processes, ensuring a robust sensor-to-shooter framework for future operations.
