The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to visibly display their FSSAI License and its QR code, linked to the Food Safety Connect App, in premises like restaurants and cafes. The initiative aims to bolster public health and engage consumers in health safety.

This directive is an effort to enhance food safety monitoring and empower consumers. The FSSAI has spearheaded this initiative nationwide, mandating that restaurants comply with the licensing conditions specified in the FSS (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011. The QR code must be prominently displayed to facilitate consumer interaction.

Furthermore, FBOs have been instructed to incorporate the QR code or a direct app download link on their digital assets. The Food Safety Connect App, developed by FSSAI, allows users to report food safety and hygiene issues, submit feedback on misleading claims, and access information about licensed food businesses. This streamlines grievances to ensure quick resolution and supports the vision for a healthier nation.
