Himachal Pradesh's Minister for Public Works, Vikramaditya Singh, has affirmed the state's commitment to restoring roads and infrastructure compromised by severe monsoon-related flooding. In a high-level meeting with PWD officials, Singh emphasized the government's proactive stance in monitoring and addressing the damages across the region.
During the meeting, Singh highlighted the dire situation, revealing that approximately 400 roads remain impassable due to landslides. He assured that repair machinery has been strategically deployed. Singh singled out Mandi as the region most affected, sanctioning ₹2 crore for immediate municipal repairs.
Singh declared zero tolerance toward financial misconduct within the PWD, announcing forensic investigations and disciplinary actions against errant officials. The government plans to enhance departmental efficiency by processing pending promotions. Estimated losses of ₹1,500 crore have been partially offset by central aid, he noted.
