A catastrophic landslide in the Dharmari region of Reasi district, Jammu & Kashmir, claimed the lives of Rajinder Singh, a 2011-batch JKAS officer, his young son, and left six others injured. The Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir announced profound sorrow over the heartbreaking incident.

"Deeply saddened by the landslide in Dharmari, Reasi, which cost us an officer, Rajinder Singh, SDM Ramnagar, and his child. This tragedy is immensely distressing. My heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, and I wish for the swift recovery of the injured," the LG's office expressed. Dr. Gopal Dutt, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Reasi, explained that upon receiving the news, two ambulances swiftly arrived at the scene, admitting six people to the hospital. Regrettably, a promising officer was lost in the disaster.

SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh reported that the incident occurred during the family's return to their native village, Pattian, from Dharmari. A landslide in the Salukh Ikhter Nallah region caused debris to crash onto their vehicle. Tragically, Rajinder Singh's son perished immediately, while his wife and two cousins sustained severe injuries. A rapid rescue operation, aided by locals and police, ensured all injured parties were transported to a nearby hospital. Critically injured individuals received further treatment at the District Hospital in Reasi.

According to officials, a landslide was responsible for the accident, prompting a police investigation. The unfortunate event underscores the rising risk of landslides in the area amid ongoing rainfall. Local authorities have urged people to exercise heightened caution during travels through hilly terrain.

A similar tragedy was reported on July 30, involving two Indian Army personnel who died when a boulder fell onto a military convoy in Ladakh at approximately 11:30 AM. The victims, Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh, were sadly confirmed deceased by the Army after a large rock crashed onto their convoy vehicle.
