India's strategic push to achieve digital sovereignty through its semiconductor mission is gaining momentum, say experts. By focusing on self-sufficiency in chip production, New Delhi aims to transform its technological landscape across sectors like mobile networks and smart devices.

Central to this initiative is developing a comprehensive digital technology stack, from semiconductor manufacturing to AI and cloud applications. In a bid to own this entire process, the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has been established, ensuring India's capabilities in chip design, fabrication, assembly, and packaging.

Efforts are underway to navigate challenges such as sourcing rare earth metals, vital to electronics production, with trips to resource-rich regions by the Prime Minister. Moreover, educational and entrepreneurial collaborations are creating new technological advancements, setting the stage for a digitally sovereign India.
