Reacting to the conviction of expelled JD(S) leader and former Lok Sabha MP Prajwal Revanna in a high-profile rape case, BJP leader Sumalatha Ambareesh declared there was nothing further to add following the court's judgment. Speaking to reporters, she emphasized the necessity for all parties to respect the legal outcome.
The verdict was delivered by a special court in Karnataka on Friday, finding Revanna guilty in a case involving a domestic help. Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Nayak stated that the decision underscored the principle that everyone is equal before the law, with possible consequences ranging from a minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment.
The case emerged just 14 months ago, rooted in allegations of sexual misconduct recorded in explicit videos involving multiple women. These videos surfaced prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, leading to Revanna's arrest in May 2024 after his return from Germany. Discussions about potential penalties will conclude on Saturday, as the legal community and public await the official pronouncement.
