A young life was lost at IIT Bombay as a 22-year-old student took his own life by jumping from a hostel building in the early hours of Saturday, according to Mumbai police. The deceased, a resident of Delhi, was pursuing a degree in the science stream.
The student was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital following the incident, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. Police reports mention a single eyewitness: another resident of the hostel who was on the terrace speaking on a mobile phone at the time of the incident named Rohit.
The Powai Police Station has filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the student's tragic decision.
