In a bustling prelude to Assam's 2026 Legislative Assembly elections, major political parties are setting the stage with strategic maneuvers. The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), under the leadership of President and Minister Atul Bora, has expressed satisfaction with the fervor of party workers. Meeting for extended executive sessions, Bora highlighted the readiness of the AGP cadre.

The electoral landscape features 126 legislative seats, with voting spread between March and April 2026. Meanwhile, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has staked its claim on 35 constituencies, signaling a shift to solo campaigning. Echoing a call for opposition unity, AIUDF emphasizes joint efforts against the BJP's electoral strength.

On a parallel front, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ramping up efforts for the Bodoland Territorial Council elections, set for September. BJP's chief spokesperson, Kishore Upadhyay, underscored the focus on peace and development in the Bodoland Territorial Region, emphasizing a marked transformation in the socio-political climate from past unrest.
